12APRIL2010 - Today I portaged for ten miles. From 21st and Chicago I rolled north onto Black Eagle Road, out past Moodie Inplement and onto US Highway 87. Pushing along Highway 87 for only a half mile or so I then got onto the Morony/Ryan dam road and proceeded across the wheat fields, past the Great Falls shooting range and to the Evans Ranch. Shep barked a lot, but allowed me to tie up the canoe and leave. The weather was wonderful, calm and partly cloudy: wind picked up during the last mile. The only wildlife seen was a Meadowlark.
