15APRIL2011 - Tax day and I have no taxes to attend to. Ahhh-h-h-h the feeling. But carpentry calls so I started affixing a ceiling onto the older of our front porches. This one was left with a sizable area unfinished and has become a large bird house, with lots of white spots regularly deposited on the porch. The birds could be stopped with wire, but that would look a little too much like the white trash solution, so a nice ceiling it is. At mid day Steve Nelsen came over to use my table saw. Steve has made an oak screen door and is at the edge trimming stage. We slowly trimmed about a half inch from each side - very interesting and a very good looking door. Getting back to the ceiling, by the end of the day I was only three 1X4s away from finished. The ceiling looks good and the birds have about 24 more hours to enjoy it. Then that will be checked off the list. Joe Clevenger (Concho, AZ) called to report that my old Jon Boat is now fitted with a motor, registered with the state of Arizona and ready for fishing. Joe and I worked out an agreement - I gave him the boat in exchange for him allowing me unrestricted winter use. Arizonans consider winter too cold for boating, so it is a perfect arrangement. Of course Joe had to bang out a few dents, patch at least one hole and do the registering, all of which he was clearly capable of doing. In November I will carry the swivel seat down and then the fishing boat will be complete. Sounds like an enjoyable, fishable winter coming up.
