3MAY2011 @ Washburn, ND - Today I am sick and the canoe did not move. Not feverish and not nauseous, this sickness is a lung congestion that is tiring. It would be a great day to get into a steam room and bring it out - Ohhh Yeahhh.

At about 1000 I walked over to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. Among other things it houses a very well presented display of river channel changes, river boats, Fort Clark artifacts and an impressive display of Georger Caitlin paintings. An indication of how worn out I felt was my opting to NOT go over to the Fort Clark excavation, a no-cost two hour lunch trip ten miles up the river. I was just feeling tired and wanting to lie down. Later at about 1500 I walked downtown, got a haircut and arranged a ride for tomorrow from Dan at the newspaper office. Upon my return from downtown I had a message from the sherriff's office regarding my canoe left by the river. They were wondering if I knew it was there and if I was okay with that. I told them that I would be paddling away tomorrow, that I would prefer it be elsewhere, but that I am gambling it will not be bothered, it being so early in the year and it being so windy today. I am immensly impressed that they ascertained that the canoe is mine.

Indeed today is quite windy. While the speed may be only 20mph, it is from the SE, so were I to paddle today I would constantly be facing it ... not desireable anytime, even less so when sick. Tomorrow brings a 40% chance of showers, but after a second night recovering and a different wind I think I can take an occasional watering.
