9APRIL2013 @ Helena, MT -

Today arrived bitingly cold and clear.   I have seen better days to pack up and leave, but eh bien, weather is not for me to control.  With lots of little tasks - getting 90-days medicine, returning the cable TV stuff, paying bills, buying a cooking pot, buying more dry bags, stopping newspaper delivery, finalizing house sitting duties with Chase, washing dishes, discussing a late water bill payment with a renter, more and more again - hunger and lunch snuck up on me.  Bill M. met me for roast chicken and conversation for a pleasant mid-day break ... his Kentucky connection wife is happy about a second straight national title in the commonwealth.  No surprise to me, I was leaving Helena with the 5 o'clock rush ... and don't worry folks, I can handle it.  Stopping at the Winston store and post office (combination) the final bills and letters were mailed and I was finally free of duties.  Arriving a Joe M's cabin about dark, I turned on some heat and went out for soup and newspapers.  Back at the cabin the bucket in the sink was still frozen and one's breath could still be seen, yet the place was getting better than the outside.  Time to sleep.
