30April2010 - After 29 days during which the canoe moved every day, the canoe remained exactly where it was this morning.
It was a rainy and windy day and trying to move the canoe down a state highway with essentially no shoulders seemed irresponsible. I am sure some days in Missouri (perhaps) there will be a tornado warning when advancing the canoe will also be irresponsible. It seemed sensible to me to demonstrate that I can indeed stop "the train" when the conditions suggest/demand ... so it was done.
Looking around in the Lakeridge Grocery Store I noticed a mounted Sauger among the other Fish, Jackalope and Deer. In the same display with the Sauger is a certificate that indicated that I was looking at the WORLD RECORD LARGEST SAUGER ever caught. My host, Gene Moore, is the holder of a world record. I am fascinated ... who knew?
Gene's wind anemometer showed a high wind speed of 47MPH today ... 25 to 35 most of the times I looked.
Eric Langen stopped in to feed me some lunch and also show me the point where I will launch the canoe. It is a bit more than 3 miles from the hotel, mostly downhill. Perhaps I will get the canoe to the ramp tomorrow.
