25MAY2011 near Akaska, SD - Today was a day of fullness. I sighted as many as 50 whitetail deer - where have they been? I saw a "tapestry" wall. I saw miles of chocolate froth. I saw and paddled through three-foot wave surges.

It is worth the float just to gaze at this incredible masterpiece.
As the day ends I am bedding down at the fishing access ramp area adjacent to the highway 212 bridge. Today I reached river mile 1152 ... I paddled 31 miles ... only 80 miles to the dam.
