11APRIL2013 near Bozeman Pass, MT -

Last night's sleep was heavenly.  I awakened at 0630 raring to go.  Yesterday's soreness was actually gone ... so after some coffee and a modest breakfast Norm left me at the Ranch Access and I began walking east.  Walking downhill with a following wind on a day that got warmer and warmer as I went was a joy.
Looking SE, the Absaroka mountains came increasingly into view.  With slopes exceeding 1to1 in many places and covered with massive amounts of snow, these mountains are as foreboding as any in Montana and rate visually at least with any in the world.  When Clark saw these, in addition to awe, he must have considered the Indian stories about the geysers and hot springs of Yellowstone to be total fantasy.  How could it be possible that anything could be worth examining up, over or through such mountains?
As I approached Livingston I could tell that a river is there yet it is covered from sight by the city and trees.  It was not until I was within 200 yards of the river was I able to see. it.  At 1500 I arrived at the Mayor's boat ramp and the end of an 11 mile day.
